Le Burkina Faso comporte, en plus du français, « langue officielle », environ une soixantaine de langues locales dites « langues nationales ». Malgré des lois favorables à l’égalité des langues, on constate dans la pratique une hiérarchisation linguistique qui consacre la domination du français sur les autres langues. Dans ce contexte plurilingue, on pouvait s’attendre à ce que la traduction puisse contribuer à la préservation de la diversité linguistique et culturelle du pays, voire à l’enrichissement des langues nationales. Mais (...) l’analyse de la traduction littéraire et audio-visuelle révèle une direction qui reflète cette hiérarchisation des langues. En effet, la traduction entre langues européennes est de loin la plus importante, en particulier entre le français et l’anglais. La traduction entre les langues nationales n’existe pas. Dans le domaine audio-visuel, en particulier le cinéma, le sous-titrage se fait toujours des langues nationales vers les langues européennes. En l’absence d’une politique linguistique et d’une politique de traduction, la traduction ne peut pas jouer son rôle de promotion des langues et de préservation de la diversité culturelle.As well as French, its “official language”, Burkina Faso has about 60 local languages that are referred to as “national languages”. Despite legislation in favour of language equality, there is, in practice, a distinct hierarchy that has enshrined the domination of French over other languages. In this multilingual context, it might have been expected that translation would help to preserve the country’s linguistic and cultural diversity, and even to enrich its national languages. However, our analysis of literary and audio-visual translations shows that the translating directions reflect the existing hierarchy between languages. Translations between European languages are by far the most common, especially between French and English. There is no translation at all between the national languages. In the audiovisual field, especially in films, sub-titles are always translated from national languages into European languages. Without language or translation policies, translation cannot play its part in promoting languages and preserving cultural diversity. (shrink)

The dóxa is a major aspect of Parmenides’ “scientific” commitment, as evidenced by studies of its discoveries in various fields of knowledge. Among them in astronomy. However, these studies have ended up identifying a scientific plan separate from the mythicalreligious and philosophical one of the first part. This survey explores the possibility of reconsidering the presence in the Parmenides’ dóxa of ontology and theology. It does so by proposing the hypothesis that the proem contains among the multiple semantic-linguistic layers the (...) mythopoeic presentation of the astronomical theorem of the identity of Eos and Hesperus, with the intent of showing, from the very beginning and in the most authoritative language for his audience, the alḗtheia of «being» on the divine stage of the celestial sphere. In our reading, therefore, the deities that enter the scene give life to a firmament that interconnects every cosmic dimension with each other and leads the one who knows (the εἰδότα φῶτα; B1, 3) – he knows that πᾶν πλέον ἐστὶν ὁμοῦ φάεος καὶ νυκτὸς because ἐπεὶ οὐδετέρωι μέτα μηδέν (B9, 3-4) – on the other side of the sky, in the presence of the theá that will reveal to him the meaning of everything. Rare copy number variants have a prominent role in the aetiology of schizophrenia and other neuropsychiatric disorders. Substantial risk for schizophrenia is conferred by large CNVs at several loci, including microdeletions at 1q21.1, 3q29, 15q13.3 and 22q11.2 and microduplication at 16p11.2. However, these CNVs collectively account for a small fraction of cases, and the relevant genes and neurobiological mechanisms are not well understood. Here we performed a large two-stage genome-wide scan of rare CNVs and report the significant association of copy (...) number gains at chromosome 7q36.3 with schizophrenia. Microduplications with variable breakpoints occurred within a 362-kilobase region and were detected in 29 of 8,290 patients versus 2 of 7,431 controls in the combined sample. All duplications overlapped or were located within 89 kilobases upstream of the vasoactive intestinal peptide receptor gene VIPR2. VIPR2 transcription and cyclic-AMP signalling were significantly increased in cultured lymphocytes from patients with microduplications of 7q36.3. These findings implicate altered vasoactive intestinal peptide signalling in the pathogenesis of schizophrenia and indicate the VPAC2 receptor as a potential target for the development of new antipsychotic drugs. © 2011 Macmillan Publishers Limited. Cet article analyse quelques extraits de messages de santé traduits du français vers le mooré, l'une des principales langues du Burkina Faso. Partant du fait que langue et culture sont étroitement liées, et que la langue exprime une vision du monde qui lui est propre, nous nous interrogeons sur les valeurs que véhicule la traduction en tant qu'acte de communication. L'analyse montre qu'au-delà de leur fonction informative, les messages traduits véhiculent des valeurs qui appartiennent soit à la culture des textes (...) sources soit à celle des textes cibles. Il est cependant clair qu'au lieu d'une approche basée sur l'équivalence, la traduction des messages de santé dans les langues africaines doit viser plutôt la fonctionnalité, approche qui met le public cible et sa culture au centre de ses préoccupations.This article analyzes some excerpts health messages translated from French to Moore, one of the main languages ​​of Burkina Faso. Given the fact that language and culture are closely related, and that the language expresses a worldview of its own, we wonder about the values ​​that the vehicle translation as an act of communication. The analysis shows that beyond their informative function, the translated messages convey values ​​that belong to either culture or source texts in the target texts. It is clear, however, that instead of an approach based on equivalence, translation of health messages in African languages ​​should aim rather functionality, an approach that puts the target audience and its culture at the center of its concerns. In this study is edited and examined a letter , in which magister Crissius de Fulgineo announces the death of the astronomer Guillelmus de Luna. In the first part are studied the typology and the rhetorical tradition of the letter, then is discussed the question of translations attributed to Guillelmus de Luna or de Lunis or Lunense, and are advanced hypotheses on the translations that Manfredi of Swabia sent at the University of Paris, probably in 1263.In questo saggio viene edita (...) e studiata una lettera con cui il maestro Crissius de Fulgineo annuncia la morte dell’astronomo Guillelmus de Luna.
